OT: Ben Franklin's Illegitimate Child(ren)

Franklin had and acknowledged one illegitimate son -- William -- who supposedly helped him in his lightning experiments and whom he dearly loved. It is not sure who his mother was, but it is possible that it was Deborah who later married Ben and took in William and treated him as a member of the family. William often accompanied Ben in his official duties -- and was awarded an honorary master's degree when his father was awarded an honorary doctorate by Oxford. William, in time, was appointed Royal Governor of New Jersey and adhered to the King during the revolution, being imprisoned by the rebels. This led to a break, and they were never reconciled. Temple, William's illegitimate son (it seemed to run in the family) accompanied Ben to Paris, served as his secretary, had affairs of his own, and edited some of Ben's papers. Nice family.
