>>sign. He has lied to the American people time and time again and betrayed their trust. He is no longer an effective leader. Since he has admitted guilt there is no reason to put the American people through an impeachment. He will serve absolutely no purpose in finishing out his term. The only possible solution is for the President to save some dignity and resign."
That quote is by William Jefferson Clinton on President Nixon in 1974. Just a thought to keep in perspective as we see what evolves this weekend.<<
robert, i tend to agree that bill has served to, if nothing else, not screw things up. ;-) same with the republicans - though i have to admit i'm scared of either a demo/demo or repo/repo cong/president.
in any case, his record isn't the issue with me. lots of people don't like clinton for whatever reason and this is one more opportunity to sling mud. however, i do have a problem, a very BIG problem, with the president of the united states apparently (actually obviously - not apparently, he's just not convicted) committing a felony and, just as important, undermining the basis of our entire judicial system.
if we have dihonest witnesses then we have NO justice system. that is what william jefferson clinton decided to stand for. he had other choices. and he CHOSE to lie and steal underpinnings of a justice system.
why? he had his own selfish motives. EVERYTIME someone lies on the stand they have their own selfish motives. so did mark fuhrman.
bill clinton stands for truth if, and if, the truth is convenient. if it is inconvenient then he stands for lies. sure, he apologizes now that he's busted. i find it intriguing that no apology was given prior to PHYSICAL EVIDENCE being brought to his attention. ironic? or just planned?
in the end, william jefferson clinton's words condemn himself. it is a sad state when your own words condemn yourself. william jefferson clinton is in a sad state of affairs.
the only problem i have is that gore is weak and i'm scared to death of a republican president with a republican congress. that being as it may, justice is justice. it isn't situational like bill wants it. justice is for everyone, not just the other guy as those who think like bill believe.
in addition, he should be charged with felony perjury and contempt of court. you or i would. |
