Forgive me if you are saying this with tongue in cheek but I don't believe the initial color match at the time the crown is made is the problem. The obvious mismatches that one can see almost every day has more to do with the differential staining/aging of the artificial material and the enamel. Color matching won't prevent that; better materials might.
