Folks: Marginable Securities....
The SEC has a list of all securities that are/are not marginable.
Theoretically, all brokers must check with this list to see if the
requested security is marginable or not. When the traders are busy
on the floor they might not always check for this, as Tony mentioned.
This results in a problem later on as happened with eTrade. Question
is will they force him to sell within the allowable 3 days or cover
for a week?... It would be a violation if they did let him keep the
shares. I hope they do...

Good Luck !

PS: NDB (my broker) checked this for me...
