Not too exciting though. First, half of my activity is arbitraging country closed-end funds as they tend to have similar portfolios but prices vary, not always in conjunction with each other, from their net asset value. I maintain live updating charts on some of these CEF's, charting their premium or discount to NAV.

Second, I keep running track of my 'speculative, short-term' portfolio, which is half long and half short. I keep running totals of amount short vs. amount long, gain/loss in each. I find looking at the profits is a very quick way to make decisions and I can view them all at the same time in a simple spreadsheet.

Not rocket science.
