Now to get this thread back on track. You won't see me giving any lipservice to the Clinton affairs.

Yes the article was from the WSJ. Looks like some big oil companies have racked up some debt buying what they thought were cheap reserves. Well, sometimes you have to wonder why the people are selling if they are so great, if you know what I mean.

Why the oil price surge in 96. I really can not recall an exact event and am thinking it just might have been supply and demand. Maybe someone who can remember back further than a few hours can help.

I think one point I do want to make is that these oil drillers are still a ways away from their historical lows. One of the ones I have followed for years has been Rowan(RDC). I'm just amazed at how much money they are making and yet the price is so low. Thats why I suspect there will be some earnings disappointments coming. At least year to year comparisons should be lower. I'm looking at possible out of the money puts. Low risk, conservative plan.
