Hi J.D.... Can't argue about the serviceability of a 300+ drive for camera's etc. I would however suggest that there is a market for Clik!. Now I could be wrong but it's my understanding that the IBM drive would be for high end systems, at least initially and implying a fairly expensive factor. With a release date of next year for the high end systems we could expect a trickle down technology of around another year for the lower cost cameras ( maybe ). All this is of course predicated upon the timely release of the drive. Keeping in mind that to date there's neither a removable or stationary drive in the market and that this is a new category. That being the case the opportunity to become an industry leader is obvious and open to anyone that can garner the support of the industry. In other words it wouldn't mean a hoot if you had a 500 meg drive if the industry wouldn't support it. What I'm going to suggest is one scenario under which IOM could establish Clik! as a standard in the industry. For eternity the many camera makers have been supporting a razor blade program for Kodak and the few other film makers. What I would propose to the camera makers is that they share in the film ( disk ) revenue in return for their inclusion of Clik! into their systems. I'm not sure how an arrangement like that could be worked out but would think that the camera makers would be biting at the bit for an opportunity to finally participate in the residual income that camera's produce. One possible way of allowing the camera makers to participate would be to allocate a special price for a given number of disks per drive sold. Perhaps Regards Reseller
