" What would happen if the vast majority, sick and tired of this ludicrous charade, were to throw the strong minority out of office in this November's elections? "

First of all, the vast majority of Americans are appalled and outraged by Clinton's sexual scandels. The U.S.A. is not France, where a married man having a mistress is respected. The Question here is whether Clinton should be impeached for technically perjuring himself before the Grand Jury and lying in front of the American Public about his alleged affair? Thus, this is not a "ludricous chirade." Clinton should have been honest to begin with. Clearly, he felt it was nobodys' business. He was wrong. He is our President and the American Public decided to make Clinton's extra-marital indiscreet affairs its business.
Secondly, you use the word " would of " a lot. I must tell you that I don't live in a world of " would of's", " could of's " or " should of's ". I'm a man of decisive action and I tell it like it is, whether you like it or not. The vast majority of the American Public has a profound Jeffersonian mistrust of Government. We like our executive and legislative branches to be run by different parties. The less government interference in the economy the better.
What makes you think the House and Senate will turn Democratic? Clinton's support has never had any coatails here. His support is as light and as fickle as the global economy. The American public likes and supports Clinton because he is checked by a Republican Congress. You won't see a backlash here. The probability of that happening is as good as the Dow hitting 12,000 in November.
Of Course, MO would retest its lows ( at the very least ) if Congress turned Democratic. Your scenario is highly unlikely.
What comes around goes around. Clinton will suffer continued humiliation for the rest of his term and the power of his Presidency will be decisively weakened. This is good for shareholders of MO.
