Combine it with a possibly similar deal with Electronic Boutique and 3Dfx will remain in the industry driver seat as long as they put out competitive (note that I didn't say superior) chipsets into the market. I see this as being even better than just having the game distributors put the 3Dfx logos on the game packages. The fact that 3Dfx is not paying for this is even better. Unfortunately, I don't think the market will be swayed in the short term since it is looking for OEM design wins to be revealed (not hinted at by management). BTW: We are getting towards the end of the quarter and earnings warning season is full upon us. The silence so far from management indicates that previous guidance still applies of flat earnings and dropping margins due to Banshee. The lack of announced OEM wins though makes me wonder who is buying all the initial production Banshee chipsets which are supposed to be between 10-20% of revenues in 3Q98. OB
