Hi Bearcatbob:

When we have REASON for the party, the last thing I will be thinking about is the mileage claim and with every beer that thought will get fainter.

Was out by the rig at 7-25 tonight. Looks like they had just finished tripping out of the hole as there was a lot of drill string hanging off the rig. No flare stack visible at the well site yet.

One comment on the location of this well, it is on top of a ridge that must be 300-400 feet above the surrounding valley bottom. At night one can see the derrick lights from 10+ miles away. When testing and flaring this sucker, they should keep in mind the old saying "speak softly and carry a big stick". The minor change I would suggest is "speak softly and use the biggest flare stack possible". With a tall flare stack and lots of gas, the flaring of this well may be visible, at night, from downtown(office towers) Calgary.

I have heard it said that during the original Turner Valley Boom that the night time glow in the sky from flared gas could be seen in Calgary. Any way you slice it, if there is sufficient gas in the crossfield zone and they flare at this location it will be visible, at night in some directions, for 25 miles. This is very different from the 2-21 well(ESSO) and the Shell well, both of which were not visible from much of a distance due to hilly terrain. By the way, the testing operation at the ESSO well seems to be complete as the equipment is gone. Will keep you informed of anything that I happen to see.

Regards From Alberta
