Here's a problem area that perhaps the new DVx will help with?

Working with the World Wide Web is easier than non-linear video editing
technology, CNN chief technology officer Scott Teissler (below) told
attendees of an industry debate on the future of broadcasting organised for
the press at IBC by Sony.

The statement will surprise many broadcasters and content creators who
are approaching the new media with trepidation. Teissler explains that
when a major story breaks and activity ramps right up people can cope
with the stress, but the computer-based video systems can't.

"They're inflexible," he says.

"Non-linear systems need to talk to other non-linear systems and have a
superb interaction with each other or bad things happen that wouldn't
happen in the linear world."

But he adds that Internet technology seems to be able to accommodate
rapid change in news flow as long as video isn't part of the content.

"If you take video out, it works. Put it in, and it gets difficult. We're trying to
learn why that is," he says.
