I think he was in dangerous country when he denied the relationship. I would in general deny it or defer the question too. If someone asked me if I was boinking so and so I would either say no or say its none of their business. The trouble is if you say NOTB then you are as much as admitting it. Can we allow inquisitions is the question. In actual fact in parliaments it is the privilege of a member to resist public inquiry into his private affairs. If it becomes a matter of security it should be handled privately by cabinet. In this case it was a possible matter for blackmail. If I were Willy I would have gone golfing and said I would not talk with the media about my affairs. It's a weak denial but it prevents the blackmail and the necessity of denial. Another technique is to look them in the eye and as weak as it is and ask them what they know about it as if you hadn't heard! The trick is to look as if you genuinely had heard nothing. Well you haven't. He had no choice but to dodge. By the constitution or any standard of right he cannot be compelled to assist his accusers.

It is obvious that the way Lewinsky carried on with the gifts and the constant visits and the job stuff (she never had a job, she wasn't qualified, she was an intern) that she was trained agent. It was a setup with Lewinsky Tripp and Starr in on it from day one. I am sick of these makeovers of all the witnesses. What kind of idiocy is this? She accuses the guy of propositioning her, sleeping with her and has to have a nose job to go to court.. to make it more plausible?

Another point that is missed and I seem to recall the phenomena from touring rock bands is that the icons don't seem to have any lack of availability of women wanting to get at them. I look a bit like Kris Kristofferson and for a joke a few times in bars I have passed my self off as him. I noted that I could have carried about three or four women out under my arm (one at a time!) totally limp after this assertion. And that is not an exaggeration. It would be easy for a resolute and unscrupulous enemy to wave cash in front of a few of them and find the ones that follow the money trail and are willing to colour any situation as the beast that would not take no for an answer or abused his power to get silence. One thing I know is power does not have to promise anything to get its way. It does not have to use power. I doubt that my alter ego Kris had to promise anyone a job with the band to get compliancy.

Lewinsky knew she was ruined if she testified. She was promised cash. Lots of it. And that was before she even met the president.

I believe Carville.
