J Bertrand:

I think you are reading too much into the voice mail.

First off, this is an internal message intended to keep internal employees focused and motivated. So, it doesn't have to be "organized" or "polished" like a press announcement. You said it wasn't passionate - I thought on the contrary. The little bit of "rawness" makes his speech sounds more genuine and sincere to me.

As for the guy who missed his baby's birth... It was a positive to me because it showed how committed the employees are in meeting the company's objectives. If the guy decided to make a personal scarifice to help the whole team out, it is the guy's own judgement and who are we to judge? Benson did what a good leader should do - recognize the employee's contribution and give credit where it is due.

I don't see anything wrong with him not disclosing the quarter's numbers neither. Every company have different policies on this. Certain things are better left unsaid until finalized and official. Bension not disclosing the info at this point doesn't mean that he doesn't know where things are himself.

Benson saying CS will not be bought is another example on how the guy is focused on keep his work force on track.

For one, the voice message shows that Bension is providing good leadership by addressing the employees "heart-to-heart" on a regular basis. At times like this, having a pumped-up work force makes the whole difference.

Finally, the phone number was obviously leaked by someone who works for CS. In my opinion, this person should be tracked down and reprimanded for leaking internal phone number and info to the public internet.
