FYI - Earning Projections and ratings
For what it's worth here are the latest earnings estimates and ratings according to Zacks.

FISC YR END 9/97 1.17 (down .03 from last month's projection)
--This would put today's QCOM PE about 34x next year's projected earnings.

QUARTER END 12/96 0.14 [down -0.06 from last month)
VS ACTUAL 12/95 0.15

QUARTER END 3/97 0.23 [down -0.04 from last month]
VS ACTUAL 3/96 0.02

Estimate of next 5 years annual growth 36.11%
--The estimates of individual analysts range from 60.00% to 20.00%

Recommendations are:

Strong Buy - 4 analysts
Moderate Buy - 4 analysts
Hold - 4 analysts
Moderate Sell - 1 analyst
Strong Sell - 0

In reading Maurice's link above, about the myriad of challenges facing QCOM at this point, I am sure that the management of QCOM wants the stock price to advance. It has been stuck in a very narrow range of late.

Many of the challenges will not be things under the direct control of QCOM - (ie the marketing efforts of the service providers) but the management of QCOM gets very high marks (in my book anyway) and I am confident enough that they know what needs to be done and the ways to get it done, that I am comfortable with my investment in their company.
