Well, to answer just in general, audited financials are good to see for any company but are not the beginning or end of an investment decision, IMHO, at least to me. There are companies who don't "fudge" in their unaudited financials and there are those who do "fudge" in their audited financials.
While it lends credibility to any company for their financials to be audited - and who the auditing firm is is also a factor - it does not guarantee anything to me.
Also, financials tell more where a company has been and, to a lesser extent, where they are going. Let's face it, a company can have pretty sad looking financials, then the business plan can come to fruition and the next financials can look great. So while financials to be current are nice to see, it is only part of an investment decision - at least to me.
And, sort of as an aside comment, how many companies always file every single report exactly on time? There are hundreds - perhaps thousands - that are sometimes late. It would be interesting, I think, to get a count of how many extensions for more time are filed, each week or month or whatever, with the SEC. |
