The first government run online casino Tue Jul 21 1998 As soon as next week, the Caribbean island nation of Dominica will launch a casino-style Web-gambling site owned and run by the government. This undermines U.S. policies to shut down the industry at home. Already today several online gambling operations operates from Dominica but this is the first government run operation, ''All licensees in the country pay a small percentage of their revenues to the government as license fees,'' Said Gary Borglund, president of the Minneapolis-based Global Games, the software and gaming-services company that helped set up the state-run page.
