What is the Willamette ? Is that the PII core or Merced core?
Unless I am mistaken Intel 1999 new chips are all PII core. Am I right?

<<The K7 will trail Intel's x86 offerings at every point during it's lifetime. >>

Why do you say this? All the performance data for Intel new offering for next year can be extracted with existence data. The speed will scale with frequency roughly in a straight line (or curve) with curve fitting constants. It is a no brainer calculation. What make you think AMD can't make something better Intel? Is it because Intel has already explored all the possibilities of making the best CPU and they already achieved the best path? If that is truth then sorry to dissapoint you. K6-2 is at disadvantage of running 100MHz bus and K6-2-300 already performs same as PII-300 (which has SRAM at 150MHz) under Windows98. Thus slot1 is no advantage over socket7. I have one advice for you, just because it hasn't been done doesn't mean it can't be done. You will see what I am saying by October 15. K7 will hold the record as the fastest X86 logic core in the world.
