ESS Technology Opens Sales and Technical Support Centers in China and Japan to Support MPEG Video Products

FREMONT, Calif., Dec. 19 /PRNewswire/ -- ESS Technology, Inc.
(Nasdaq: ESST) today announced the opening of two new sales and technical
support centers in Beijing, China, and Tokyo, Japan, to provide ESS' customers
with marketing and applications support. The initial emphasis will be on
support for customers producing video CD, DVD, and set-top box products. ESS
has recently announced more than thirty five design wins for its digital video
products in the Asia-Pacific area. In addition, the centers will provide
support for ESS' industry-leading digital audio products and its new telephony
products.

expanded local support, said Johnston Chen, ESS' director of Asia Pacific
sales. This will accelerate our penetration plan in DVD and set-top box
applications.
