Hi Christine, I liked most of the quotes in your post, but didn't care for the blackplague site, even if they are just joshing.
The freedom to be able to post things here that can't be "politely" brought up in other public forums gives me pause to thank the people with scientific and rational minds to come up with the hardware and software that made the internet possible. Not one bit of it was prayed into existence, or created by a god.
I like the idea of making the analogy of the spread of religion and viruses. I might add that the religion virus feeds on the fear of death and the feeling of one's inadequacy. I does nothing to cure either, but those infected think they are well, and spread the virus to others, including their children. It is a currently very insidious pandemic. The only real cue is time. Unfortunately for the human race, I feel that it will run for several hundred years more, after which there will be a renaissance. Those living then will wonder how so many people literally believed in so many different religious mythologies.
I was deliberately infected with the religion virus at an early age, just as most other people were, but apparently I have a natural immunity that kicked in when I was about 10. Just as with even the worst viruses, there is a percentage of people who become immune. I seem to be one of them, but I don't know who to thank.
Let me try. Thank you god for giving me the rational mind and the wisdom not to believe in you.
