I've been fascinated by the latest in display technology in the news. Have you guys read about the new IBM flat panel display with a 200 ppi resolution?
research.ibm.com

There's another company I've been tracking for awhile...Cambridge Display Technology. cdtltd.co.uk They've come up with a completely different angle on flat panel displays. They use light-emitting plastic!! This technology is just getting off the ground, but it has numerous advantages over conventional LCDs:

- there is no backlight, saving drastically on power comsumption
- it is flexible!
- high reslution (demonstrated NTSC resolution on a 50mm width piece)
- easier manufacturing process than LCDs, therefore cheaper
- can be viewed from any angle, like a CRT

This seems like a technology with HUGE potential. By the way, I have no vested interest in promoting this stuff :) I think that I'll hold off buying a Powerbook for awhile...
