Larry - Yes, detecting the end is the same as the beginning. The difference is that at the beginning I am in control and can decide whether the purchase/sell price is good enough that I will be guaranteed a sufficiently large win to offset any remaining risk.

On the last half, the reverse is not true as I cannot control the price I will eventually sell/purchase at as I am more at the mercy of the markets. All I know is how far the price must go and can go, but not how far it will actually go. Often (not always) how far it must go is insufficient to guarantee a sufficiently large win for safety.

The other day, when I choose to sell IBM at $126.625+ I knew the price would go down to something in the range of $109 to $117. Therefore I would make sufficient money regardless.
