>>What Topic is Off Topic? <<

Warning: The following post is off topic. :)

Obviously each of us has a different idea as to what is off topic and that's fine. Normally I'm not bothered by most of what I read here.

But I draw the line at two things - first of all the 'ugly' posts (the ones that are nothing but viscious personal attacks or that contain nasty slurs against other ethnic groups) and secondly when a sub-group of this thread's posters (i.e. americans) get obsessed with some little idea - like day after day after day using the GPM to simply broadcast their personal disgust with some politician's indescretions.

I hasten to add that discussing what affect that politician's actions are having on the gold market is obviously quite relevant. Its just that repetitively declaring whether or not you think Clinton should resign, telling us that you're grossed out etc adds NOTHING to the GPM. A little bit of that discussion is totally normal in any thread but when it almost becomes the main topic of conversation something is wrong.)

It was me who reported Charters to the sys-admin. My letter to Bob didn't say anything about his being off-topic but just to complain that Charters was using SI to make rascist comments. I'm glad I did it and I'm glad he's gone.

When the guys with the white hoods show up on my street I don't just shrug my shoulders and say 'oh well, they're just exercising their free speech.' I believe that if I do not exercise MY right to speak out against them it means that I have failed my friends and neighbours.

If you say that I'm too politically correct, so be it. I can live with that easier than thinking of myself as a coward.
