Now don't get me wrong. I do think Clinton's affair with Lewinsky was reprehensible. Not itself impeachable but reprehensible. First, because he is married. Second, because he was and is the President, and should not do anything which people would feel demeaned his office, and could throw the country into turmoil. Her youth is a factor here, largely for appearance reasons. Thirdly, because the affair was especially reckless in view of the fact that enemies were clearly out to get him, and some were pursuing this very sort of trail to weaken, or even remove him. And lastly, because it seems quite clear that he had no intentions other than temporary ones. The last is the least, but especially for the President has to be a factor. So yes, it was clearly reprehensible.

I can't find much in your post and the above excerpt that I disagree with.( well maybe I do not think the Monika scenario is completely absurd, I believe they took advantage of each other) I have not argued for impeachment (until more evidence surfaces, impeachment could drag on for years...Clinton strategy). My position is for resignation. Spare us the unending revelations and rebuttals that are surely to come. The above is sufficient for resignation.
I do not think Monika is innocent. I do not believe her doings are worthy of national debate.
It is the results of the Presidents behavior that are significant. Actions and the results of actions speak loudest to me. If the President's actions did not result in a scandal then one could argue morals and its none of our business. If he chooses to take risks with the Presidential office he should take them with great care. Surely he is not so naive as to think that his behavior, if revealed, would not be a scandal of great proportion.
Was it a conscious decision or is he incapable of controlling his own behavior? Either way he placed Americans in jeopardy. I believe he knows the error of his ways and thinks he can get away with it. I believe he has gotten away many times in the past and most likely with devious methods. I believe he will place us at risk again if given the chance. Where there is smoke there is fire. The only way to respond IMO is with an emphatic NO. The man has been exposed. He is not who we thought he was when he was elected. Most people did not understand the depths of the man. We are living and condoning a lie.
One of Americas strengths is the knowledge that our President is not above the law. We should not weaken ourselves by playing games of semantics and legal technical mumbo jumbo. Power is earned and his is now lost. He gave it back, We can pass it on to another deserving individual. The office is not sacred. We can not let the President and his lawyers look us in the eye and tell us SEX is not SEX. We believed him( or gave him a buy) before and now he is trying again. He's playing us for fools.
Did you conveniently forget about Paula Jones? In a he said she said scenario I believe Paula Jones. Do you believe Clinton violated her rights? Going beyond the initial sexual "crime", he lied in court about sexual matters in a sexual case. Is it the "American Way" to trample on the innocent and then have the elite find ways to condone, excuse, rationalize, find legal...that which by common sense should not be? ....... The life boats are for the upper class.
