We need to analyze how many 'Net advertisers need 'Net hype to survive. YHOO getting money from Ford to advertise is a lot different from YHOO getting money from NetGrocer to advertise. YHOO and NetGrocer are betting on the same dynamic. Ford would be validating YHOO's growth plan from outside - from an industry that is not dependent on the 'Net already. So far Portal sites have yet to be validated by mainstream, non-Internet-dependent industry.
