re: Korean consolidations and no bank loans after sep 30,98.,

Any subsidiary of 5 JaiBeuls who can't sustain by itself won't be able
to get any bank loan as of sep 30, 98
according to Korean Government
on Sep 12. The 5 Jaibeuls were SamSung, LG, HynDai, CS and one more
(Sorry I can't remember the last name.) SamSung and HyunDai will get
a little more lead time because their consolidation process started
later than others.

1. IMO, even if HD and LG like it or not, they have to consolidate
within a month other wise there'll be no more money from government
to keep them alive. But I don't know if American SIA is going to allow
it or not because of it's size.
I find it interesting that they have
to get The Permission from US to consolidate in Korea. I don't think
US Semi Asso. is playing fair for Koreans. Who said it's free trade?

2. I'm afraid Managed Economy might not work well in Korea in '98+.
Korea is too advanced to have Managed Economy unlike in '70s and '80s.
I hope it works well this time too!
