LOS ANGELES, Sept. 14 /PRNewswire/ -- SAPPHIRE -- Cognos(R) COGNF , the leading strategic
business intelligence vendor, here today introduced and demonstrated Cognos Accelerated Data
Marts, a business performance reporting solution that extends Cognos Accelerator(TM) for SAP. In
conjunction with Cognos Accelerator, Accelerated Data Marts automate the creation of a complete
data warehousing application, using SAP data for business performance measurement. Accelerated
Data Marts provide extraction, transformation and loading (ETL) scripts and pre-built multidimensional
and relational reports for specific SAP R/3 modules. The pre-built reports are designed to track Key
Performance Indicators (KPIs) so that business managers can quickly view, measure and analyze
their company's performance. Cognos will deliver its first Accelerated Data Mart for the SAP SD
Module (Sales and Distribution), and it will include reports that track KPIs such as on-time delivery
and sales or units shipped by territory, by product or service, and more.

segmentation and factor analysis). Customers using Accelerated Data Marts with Cognos

for source-to-target mappings, to handle data warehouse creation and incremental warehouse
updates; -- a schema for the data warehouse; -- pre-configured models for relational and
multidimensional (online analytical processing or OLAP) reporting, and pre-built reports that allow
business managers to track and analyze KPIs; and, -- full documentation, including a customization
guide so that users can tailor their reporting application to their SAP implementations.
Designed to efficiently and instantly deploy a data mart in an SAP environment, the Accelerated Data
Marts answer the following types of questions for SAP customers: Where is the data I need? How do
I format it for meaningful decision-making? How do I capture only changed data? How do I optimize
