...By the way, I don't feel rosy about the economy...
Same here, David. In addition to the things you cited, I am also worried about the transition to a single monetary system in Europe (what are the chances that the continent which saw two great world wars waged in the 20th century alone is going to make a seamless transition to the Euro, a single monetary system, in 1999?), the inevitable end of the century global funk (the thought occured to me recently as I plotted my polite getaway from a dinner date with a lady who sincerely believed that the world was going to end before the year 2000 and whose family had already "taken" precautions up in the mountains), and the worsening economies of Asia, one third of the global economy.
I think its wishful thinking to assume that all the events happening around the world are not going to have any significant impact on the world's largest economy.
It's a real honest to goodness stockpickers' market now. It's actually been that way for a while. Aren't you glad that we have a place like SI where we can pool our resources and make better choices?
On that note, I want to add my voice to the silent chorus of the people quietly grateful for all the useful information on this board, particularly the invaluable reports on the appeal hearings. I'm still here in Asia, personally supervising a few more sorties of the capital flight variety (a very modest variety, I assure you), but I expect to be back and contributing my fair share to this board when I get back to the mainland in a few weeks.
Gus
P.S. I still get a kick out of the thought of the normally dapper Hal almost being bounced out of the courthouse for violating the dress code. LOL.
