I agree. But most of our Congressmen are not doing these more important things you mention anyway. They are meekly piping the corporate tune and taking the corporate, so called, donations for doing so.

Unfortunately, they wouldn't get elected or re-elected if they didn't. So part of the problem is the system and the way it has developed and at this point trying to change it, in certain ways, is also a significant and worthy endeavor to add to the others.
