When looking at the impact of usage changes on switching system design, it is important to consider the various elements of that system seperately. Changes in the statistical assumptions for usage impacts each of the elements differently. For example, longer holding times actually deloads the per call impact on the processor. On the other hand, the number of ports increases in direct proportion to increases in holding times. I suspect a lot of telco engineers are going back and looking at Poisson distributuions with a new found level of appreciation. Regards, Phil
