Here are some reasons he shouldn't resign, in case you haven't seen it.
I voted for Clinton but also Reagan and Bush. I'm an independent. While I don't think what he did was properly impeachable (though getting there), I did quite a bit of thinking about whether it would be better for him to resign. As being one of two ways to quickly exit this crisis, and partial paralysis. (The other being for the Republican controlled house to not vote articles of impeachment, and to act quickly, which seems very unlikely.)
I ended up deciding no. That the precedent would be terrible, and very, very important. With wide ranging effects. Because unlike with Nixon, where the conduct was unarguably impeachable once the proof was in, this is a very different case.

However this crisis turns out, it will have very important and long lasting effects. I think the most important thing is not to leave the President vulnerable to easy removal, while leaving untouched the full possibility of removing him for genuine illegal abuse of power, or corruption of his office.
