Steve--I agree that the passage in Luke 14:26 refers to a command relating to PRIORITY of importance instead of a manifestation of an attitude of intense ill will. Paul advised the Galations that the "works of the flesh are adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lewdness, idolatry, sourcery, HATRED, contentions, jealousies, outbursts of wrath, selfish ambitions, dissensions, heresies, envy, murders, drunkenness, revelries and the like; . . . those who practice such things will not inherit the kingdom of God. But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control. . . Let us not become conceited, provoking one another. . . ." GAL 6:19 - 26.
God is good, yes?
