TICK measures (upticks - downticks) for the entire NYSE. INDU only covers the Dow 30. TICK declining faster than the INDU suggests that breadth is lousy i.e. the Dow 30 is outperforming the NYSE in general. INDU is an absolute # based on prices of the DOW 30, TICK is a directional # based on up/down ticking.

Mark, Thanks! That's what I thought, but I couldn't believe the lack of correlation between the two. You'd think with the $TICK in such a downslope, the market would be tanking. The ADV/DEC ratio was fairly high too. Wouldn't such a downslope to $TICK imply that Decliners were outpacing the Advancers?
