My comp USA drives are simply Maxtor 2880s in a different box (actually, one was in a regular Maxtor box.) Have only tried 2, but have had 0 problems so far. These drives have an excellent reputation for reliability. What's the manufacture date on your drive? Perhaps you just got a bad apple. Regards, Dave
