>>ANAHEIM, Calif., Sept 14 (Reuters) - Pacific Sunwear of California Inc. said Monday it plans to open 25 new stores under the trade name ''d.e.m.o'' in 1999.

The company currently operates 15 d.e.m.o. stores in seven states. The stores, which sell clothing by Tommy Hilfiger, Polo Jeans, Nautica and others, target young males aged 12-22, and, to a lesser extent, young females.

''Our 15 store test of d.e.m.o. was very encouraging, with strong sales trends which led to our decision to expand the concept,'' Chairman and Chief Executive Greg Weaver said in a statement.

The company plans to open a total of 100 new stores in 1999 including 67 new Pacific Sunwear stores, eight new Pacific Sunwear Outlet stores and 25 new d.e.m.o. stores which will take its total number of stores to about 442.<<
