Meanwhile, the overcapacity/deflation scenario continues to loom over the macroeconomy. USA Today had a big article today in which three different Korean automakers talked about targeting the US as a cure for their local demand woes. With the US auto market stable at 15 million cars a year, and three currency-deflated companies targeting it, any guesses about which way car prices are headed?

Oblig. semi update: I'm visiting equipment companies this week. I wouldn't say people are calling a bottom, because that implies short-term optimism that doesn't exist, but the feeling does seem to be that things can't get much worse. The workforce reductions have been made, the priorities have been set, and everyone is buckling down for the long haul.
