John,

Interesting comment on CPQ/DEC/TANDEM issues in Europe. I am currently attending the DECUS (DEC User Society) symposium in Paris and just walked out of the first Keynote address. John Rose (CPQ Enterprise Computing Group) shared strategy with us. Very briefly, one of the key areas of focus is integration of Tandem technologies like NSK into NT, Digital Unix & Open VMS. This is also happening the other way around in that the next generation Himalaya and Integrity servers from Tandem will utilise Alpha processors.

All in all, he painted an extremely positive picture of the three companies integration thus far.

I only have intermittant access to the Internet, but I will summarise the keynote sometime this evening and hopefully post it tomorrow. It was very interesting from a shareholder point of view in judging the "state of the integration"

Regards,

H
