Interesting conversation, must be driving CSCOheads crazy. A couple of observations: 1. To the gentleman comparing Clinton to Reagan. If you can produce the evidence that Reagan even KNEW about Iran-Contra let alone lied about it, I'm sure you will find many from the left eager to revisit this issue. What you wish to be true doesn't make it true if you can't prove it. Actually Reagan volunteered twice to testify, Clinton refused to testify and when forced to he lied. 2. Clinton lied to a federal grand jury. Period. The subject matter is irrelevant. If this act is left untried or pardoned I fear for the fabric of our judicial system and anyones ability to receive a fair trial. You are on a very slippery slope if you can condone perjury. 3. Remember also that Janet Reno appointed Ken Starr to investigate Whitewater, Travelgate, et al four years ago. That means that this "affair" took place while Starr was doing his job and Clinton's "friends" from the right were trying to find whatever dirt they could. The arrogance of that action is incredible, the stupidity of that action is simply mind boggling. 4. Carrying on an affair with a 21 year old intern showed an incredible lack of judgement. Take this to the bank, there is not an executive or CEO in this country that would still have his job after pulling such a stunt. 5. The point keeps being made that his private life has nothing to do with his ability to be president. Maybe so, but it's about perjury and judgement. Upholding the laws of the country and showing good judgement in difficult situations are traits one should look for in a president. Mr. Clinton fails miserably in both areas, not a man I want as my president. Just a few thoughts, neither from the right nor the left, just my own. Cheers - RC
