Sony & Fast join forces on NLE

<<IBC98 Daily News>> 9/15/98

Fast's Andre' Fischer confims that the company is "in talks" with Sony about this area, but could give no more detail. "they're interested in MPEG2 editing and we have an MPEG2 editing product", he says.

Sony has had little success in cracking the non-linear editing workstation market and has already worked with Fast on a DV-solution. Fast designed Sony's new entry level DVCAM editing system, the ES-3.

Fast is demonstrating its own MPEG2 non-linear editor at IBC, named Six-O-One. Based on the dual stream C-Cube Codec chip, launched at last year's exhibition, it is the first MPEG2 editing workstation to appear and is due to ship next month.
