Roger W. Johnson to Join Pixtech Board of Directors
Former Chairman and CEO of Western Digital and White House Official
SANTA CLARA, Calif., and ROUSSET, France, Sept. 15 /PRNewswire/ -- PixTech, Inc.(Nasdaq: PIXT; Easdaq) today announced Roger W. Johnson, age 69, will join its Board of Directors effective September 22, 1998. His addition brings PixTech's total Board membership to five.
Johnson is one of few individuals whose career includes leadership positions in the Fortune 500, federal agencies, the non-profit sector and academia. Johnson was chairman, president and chief executive officer of Western Digital Corporation [NYSE:WDC - news] from 1982 to 1993, during which time the company's revenues grew from $30 million to over $1 billion, making it an international leader in the disk drive industry.
Prior to joining Western Digital, Mr. Johnson was president of the Office Systems Group of Burroughs Corporation and executive vice president and chief operating officer of Measurex Corporation. Additionally, he has held executive positions with Memorex Corporation, the Business Machines Division of the Singer Company. Following college, he spent three years in the General Electric Company's Management Training Program. He remained with General Electric for fourteen years in a variety of management positions.

In addition to his extensive corporate experience, Johnson was the first Republican appointed to a top post in the Clinton Administration, where he was Administrator of the U.S. General Services Administration from 1993 to 1996. During that time, he was also a member of the President's Management Council and the National Economic Council.
Johnson is currently on the Board of Directors of The Needham Funds, Inc., Sypris Solutions,Inc., Insulectro, and the Women's Consumer Network. He is also a member of the Executive Committee for the American Entrepreneurs for Economic Growth.
