Everyone keeps forgetting that ASND doesn't have to sell! It has expertise w/THE technology/market opportunity where LU and NT are weak. Based on its preeminent worldwide customer base alone and next generation products (ahead of LU, CSCO and NT/BAY), ASND has very nice prospects as a stand-alone company for the next 2-3 years. Yes, ASND long-term would have some competitive problems against larger entities. But, with more savvy strategic acquisitions such as Cascade (Juniper? etc.), ASND would hold its own.

I reit my prediction of a minimum of $75/share or $15B to get ASND interested. No reason to sell otherwise. The market opportunity (data to replace voice equipment) is hundreds of billions over the next 5-10 years. LU covets ASND and will have to pay up with their overvalued shares given the growing obsolesence of much of their voice product line.

As always, I remain open to contrary persuasive arguments backed up with fundamental info. djane
