I am entitled to the opinion that Slavery is wrong. Futhermore your assumption that it must be looked at from a certain perspective in history is somewhat erroneous, IMO. One would think that God's opinions are not time specific, especially when the bible is concerned. If one is to take the Bible literally, it must apply equally to all people in all times. Otherwise its importance is either greater or lesser during the less relevant times.

therefore Gods words concerning slavery must apply equally to this time period as wee if we are to take the bible literlly. that is just common sense, IMO.
