john - might I take some editorial license with your view of the future?

I submit a more factually developed forecast:

I can see it all now, in the year 2050 the history program depicts a scenario from back in 1998 wherein a sitting President was nearly impeached for blatantly lying and then using the powers of his office to prevent the lies from being revealed. Not long after the initial, somewhat prurient revelations were made and the scandal had offended many into near-apathy, the other on-going investigations finally exposed the depth of the President's involvement in a long string of illegal activities on the part of himself, his wife and others in the administration, and ultimately resulted in his resignation from office.
