Wizzer, thanks for pming me those two posts of Eric's - I had seen them, and flinched in amazement then - I quite agree, the man can be an absolute idiot at times, he seems to have a tendency at times to seek attention by making his points in an inflammatory manner.
I take it that you did not run to SI Bob, and for that you have my respect.
You responded to him with anger, but with intelligence and common sense as well.
This is as it should be, imho - we all present our cases and the judgement of their relative validities is left to the reader .... Now maybe I am some sort of radical Free Speech nutcase, but I really don't think so - I have spent time, and will soon spend more time, in places where speaking your mind would get you shot or your throat slit. I understand hatred - racial hatred and religious hatred and class hatred and the hatred borne of envy of anyone with enough to eat - in my opinion the ability to speak freely here is what raises us above brute animals. Those who jump so easily to censorship of any kind for any reason would pull us back down to the mud if we let them.
My friend Tastes started this thread #Subject-22531 as a referendum on the question of whether or not to petition SI to terminate the poster Emile Vidrine #reply-5688260 (the header is quite changed now) - now that is one scummy little Jew-baiting crossburner, I have followed his posts off and on for well over a year - and yet I could not vote to terminate his membership. My point being that my stand on free speech has nothing whatever to do with my evaluation of specific arguments presented.
I know you have no malice in you, Wizzer, I've read your posts for some time now, since the old Bre-X thread. There's not a lot in me most of the time, and you know - I don't think there's a great deal in Eric either, most days ... fwiw ...... cheers and good luck .... marcos |
