I don't think there's a religion on earth that hasn't been used to justify violence and destruction. This to me says less about the quality of those religions than about the capacity of humans to turn any idea to destructive ends.

The ease with which religion is turned to negative ends is a terrific argument against organized religion. The moment a faith organizes, it becomes a political force with worldly goals, and corruption sets in apace. Religion in any pure sense is a matter between the individual and God. The more private it stays, the better. IMO.
