Steve, But if religion is a completely private matter, then how could it be passed on? And if someone comes up with a useful technique that helped them to be more loving, kind and compassionate, how can that technique be shared with others? Sure, the human capacity for self centered behavior makes any institutional approach to spirituality suspect, but what are the alternatives? How can the best ideas of spirituality be passed on without some sort of organization to do so? I don't think there are any easy solutions to this riddle. Craig
