LA
San Francisco
Seattle

How about laying out the perfect weekend in these cities. We're looking for Hotels, Theatre,
Sites, Restaurants, Special Places, etc.

Here's a great weekend my wife and I had in San Francisco.

Arrived rather late on a Friday night. Had a reservation at the Ritz Carlton. Due to a very high rate of occupancy they informed us that we would have to be upgraded to a suite on the club level (oh...bother). Needless to say the suite was gorgeous. Two marble baths, living room and bedroom. Fruit baskets and chocolates, etc.

The club level of the hotel offers five "servings" everyday: Breakfast, Light Lunch, Afternoon Snacks, hors d'oevres (including caviar) and aperitifs.

On Saturday, we got up and drove into wine country and toured Sonoma. In particular the Sonoma-Cutrer vineyard which is referred to earlier in this thread. They specialize in
Chardonnays and produce no other wines. The tour was capped off with a private tasting with ourselves and one other couple during which we got the opportunity to speak with one of the principals of the operation. Their attention to detail is impressive. Naturally, we ponied up for a case of one of the wines and had it shipped home.

On the way back to SF, we stopped in Sausalito and stopped off at Horizons. The restaurant is built out on a pier that extends into the harbor and the tables on the back deck looking out on the water are a great place to spend a lazy afternoon. Food is OK, but really, who notices?

Returned to SF, late in the afternoon and lounged out in room for a couple of hours then got ready for dinner.

Dinner was at Postrio (on Post St. naturally). Excellent menu, superb risotto. I'm not 100% positive but I believe Wolfgang Puck has a tie into the restaurant. I've been back since while in SF on business and the food and service remain good but not quite up to the level of the first couple of years' of operation. I think it has caught on and become a bit touristy. Interesting in comments from others who have been there.

After dinner we popped over to Harry Denton's to hear a little live jazz and grab an after dinner drink. Great atmosphere.

Neat place alert: Across the street from Harry Denton's is Rincon center. If you walk in and turn to the right there is a 4 or 5 story atrium that has a ceiling to floor free-fall fountain that is in a word, "neat". It's cool due to the water vapor in the air and just a great place to pop into. Also, there is a billiard hall off the atrium lobby if you're so inclined.

After that, it was back to the hotel. We had to leave early in the morning but, what a weekend!
