The Silicon Investor (SI) International Open Stock Picking Contest [the intermediate-term version] will run from the opening of the market on 10/1/98 through the close of the market for the year on 12/31/98, both Thursday's, and a period of *exactly* 13 weeks, *inclusive* of Columbus Day (10/12), Thanksgiving Day-(Canada)(10/12), National Boss Day (10/16), United Nation's Day (10/24), The ending of Daylight's Saving Time on Sunday (10/25) at 2:00 AM EDT, Halloween (10/31) (a Saturday --Oh God!), Election Day (11/2), Veterans Day, and Remembrance Day [Canada] (11/11), Thanksgiving Day (U.S.) 11/26, Hanukkah (8 days beginning at sundown of 12/13), Christmas Eve (12/24 - market closes at 1:00PM EST), Christmas Day (12/25 - (market closed)), Boxing Day [Canada 12/26), and Through New Year's Eve in it's entirety (12/31), (please refer to local times).
NYSE, AMEX, and NASDAQ stocks. This precludes OTC-BB stocks (pink sheets), but does allow anyone to go either long or short on *any* NASDAQ listed stock.
5 holdings each originally worth $20,000 (U.S.).
No esoteric or derivative plays allowed, just long or short stocks.
A Buy (or Short) and Hold holding period.
Dividends excluded (as before), just a straight price ROI.
Prizes - to be determined during the course of the competition and agreed upon by the Chairman of the Prize Committee, Chair, Bald Man from Mars.
And fun should be had by all!
