Tijuana ????

That is the rathole of the world...... nothing but.... yuk, yuk, yuk, etc. etc.

Perhps, a report about San Felipe (at the top of the Sea of Cort‚z, or Gulf of California),

or Rosarito, (1/2 way between Tijuana and Ensenada) where for $10.00 US$, (at least when I went there), you could eat Pacific Lobster (without the big clamps), and all the beans, tortillas and rice you could consume, beers were extra, but the lobsters were absolutely delicious.

Further down the peninsula, Mulege and Bah¡a Concepci¢n are beautiful places, Mulege is a small fishing village, and Bah¡a Concepci¢n is only a Bay, with camping facilities only (at best) I was there along time ago, so things may have changed a lot.

Bah¡a Concepci¢n is a small bay where the water is crystal clear, from the road where I briefly stopped on my way to Loreto (more later), I could see the fish banks swimming about, from my point of perspective (high up the hill), it looked like a natural bath tub, incredibly beautiful.

Loreto is also a small fishing village, but there was a major hotel there, (I think it was either El Camino Real, or Hilton or something along those lines). As a quiet retreat is great, I am certain that more development has taken place since.

For that matter the entire peninsula is very intriguing most of it is a desert.

In the northern part, there is the "Vallde de Guadalupe" where there are a few vineyards owned by the Pedro Domecq family (or corporation), originally from Spain. Domecq is a very large corporation within the wine and liquor (brandy/sherry) business.

They produce a number of reasonable wines, such as Los Reyes, and Calafia, When first produced, these wines were excellent, since then the quality went down a little. Late;y I can not say as it has been a long time since I have tasted them.

In general the wines of that area are good..... However I am certain that they could be better. The valley is a pretty one, more like an irrigated oasis in the middle of an otherwise desertic place.

If I remember well, this valley is on the way from Ensenada to San Felipe.

AT the very tip of the peninsula in the south are Los Cabos and La Paz (the Capital of the Southern Baja California).

Los Cabos is reported to have first class resorts, with great golf courses.

As for Jane, I am certain that she has lots of stories about the place..... But I hope they are not from Tijuana.....

More or less, Tijuana is Hell, or the next door to it.
