Truman, I like Bob's commentary a lot. He is very knowledgeable and well informed. It is touhg to argue with some one who has been right on the money on market calls - at least in the last 5 years. When he refers to "bad news bears" I think he gets a little wacky. He for one keeps admitting about the volatility of the market which is created by nothing less than overbought and oversold conditions. I have never seen him give credit for the bears who were right on the money in making correct calls on silly "hype" stocks like Pressteck, Optical Cable and even Micron! In fact, back in December 1995 when Bob was still bullish on the market, market seers like Adam Smith and others have been telling people about the overbought conditions in the tech-sector and cautioned investors about the repurcusions (I wish I listened.) The only thing I remember Bob Brinker mentin at that time was read out the Micron Tech's cautionary note in the earnings release. He went on to say, "if this is not a rout, what is?" Other than that he had no comment on the market setting-up for a correction. He still maintained a buy, which - a year later - proved out to be right. But, it was not comforting for those who rode the tough two months of January and July. I think Bob made great calls on market bottoms but I don't think he ever did call the tops correctly.
I for one, just love to listen to him on weekends.
