about semiequip growth and semi-recovery musings:

Very good article about demand and foundry requirements:
techweb.com

(the above counters the AMAT CFO's claim of no 30+% years in that
"mature" industry ever again<g> Plus they are once again making
the famous "recoiled spring" argument <g>)

[only 5% of foundry capacity is for 0.25 and below - no wonder those
foundry guys were making so much cash - 0.50 fabs must be pretty cheap
and keeping them filled up is like printing money for their
shareholders <g>]

[LSI always seems to be marching to the beat of another drummer
aren't they. Last year they were at 65% fab utilization around
mid year and really hurting and everyone else was pretty much
ga ga and very happy. Then this year as LSI was moving fast from
70% to 80% to 90+% utitlization the industry was going the other
way with fab utilization decreasing sharply. Amazing - all I
have to say is that LSI is doing something differently !
now
convert that into cash...]

Also RF Micro reporting unexpected sales strength... <good good good>
"RF Micro Devices Inc. (RFMD): The wireless equipment maker said earnings and revenue for the second quarter ending Sept. 30 will be higher than expected. Earnings are expected to be 9 cents and 10 cents a diluted share, the company said. RF Micro was expected to earn 6 cents, the average estimate of four analysts polled by First Call and earned 5 cents in the year-earlier quarter RF Micro rose 1/4 to 16 3/4" - after market at 18 1/4.

and BBRC did not go down nearly as much as I thought they might <good
good good>...

any more of what looks like good news trickling out and the little
guys will be getting more and more confident in the chip sector... right now there is still a tad of uneasiness (understatement)...

now hoping that there are no more skeletons in the closet so the
semi-investors currently in the closet can come out and push the prices just a tad higher... I'm not asking for much these days <g>

Shane.
